A ship cruise on the Neckar river, from Stuttgart to Marbach, past the sunny grapevine-covered hills, lots of nature, culture and fun...welcome to the Schwabenland!

Its best to begin our tour in Cannstatt near Stuttgart, where Europe's second largest festival, the Cannstatter Wesen, is held. For 16 days at the end of September there is a lot of activity on the banks of the Neckar, with beer tents, winebars and any number of culinary offerings from bouillabaisse to Zuckerwatte (cotton candy).
If you want to escape the crowds, then Stuttgart is the place. It's known as town with a big fair variety and a quiet town with plenty to interest culture fans. Besides the huge Picasso exhibit, I can recommend our Staatsgalerie, the Liederhalle (music hall) and a visit to the Staatsoper (opera). I can arrange tickets for the musical "Tanz der Vampire" (Dance of the Vampire). Starting in November 2002, the "Phantom of the Opera" is hauntig through Stuttgart. In our region, there are any number of sports events in the Gottlieb-Daimler-Stadion and in the Hanns-Martin-Schleyer Halle, .the Weisenhof Turnier, the Mercedes Cup and of course the games of the VfB Stuttgart. Families should absolutely make a trip to the fun park Tripps Trill.

And now, further up the Neckar river to the magical baroque town Ludwigsburg. In 1704 Duke Eberhard Ludwig built a Lustschloss (a folly). Right after, the "Blühende Barock", Germany's largest baroque complex, was created, surrounded by the oldest and most beautiful garden show. Feral nature, artful gardens, the scent of flowers in the air and fairy-tale buildings from witches' cottages to dream castles enchant all visitors, whether young or old. Not to be missed are the so-called "Favoriteschlösschen", the castle Monrepos and the Residenz castle, where there is a very interesting porcelain manufactury.

A real highlight is the Ludwigsburger Schlossfestspiele, held from June until September. 90 shows from classic to performance art are put on with first-class artists.
Our last stop is Marbach, Schiller´s home town, where one can view his birth house. A "süßes Städle" (sweet little town), as we Schwabs say, with romantic streets beautifully situated in the wine-growing hills along the Neckar river.
To round out the day, I recommend a stop in the beergarden "7 Eichen" (7 oaks) in Affalterbach near Marbach, where there is often live music. In any case you should enjoy the lavish scenery with our wonderful wine, and perhaps an authentic Schwabish dish, for example "geschmälzte Maultaschen mit Kartoffelsalat", a sort of Schwabish ravioli with potato salad.
I will be pleased to organize your lodgings with pleasant Schwabish hosts. Gladly, I organise your overnight accomodation with nice Swabian hosts and hostesses for you. These not only cordially welcome tourists but they also keep special offers ready for business travellers both in elevated and simple categories. Particularly interesting for workers away on a job: reasonable prices per month!
We look forward to greeting you!
