And now, further up the Neckar river to the magical baroque town Ludwigsburg. In 1704 Duke Eberhard Ludwig built a Lustschloss (a folly). Right after, the "Blühende Barock", Germany's largest baroque complex, was created, surrounded by the oldest and most beautiful garden show. Feral nature, artful gardens, the scent of flowers in the air and fairy-tale buildings from witches' cottages to dream castles enchant all visitors, whether young or old. Not to be missed are the so-called "Favoriteschlösschen", the castle Monrepos and the Residenz castle, where there is a very interesting porcelain manufactury.

A real highlight is the Ludwigsburger Schlossfestspiele, held from June until September. 90 shows from classic to performance art are put on with first-class artists.

Our last stop is Marbach, Schiller´s home town, where one can view his birth house. A "süßes Städle" (sweet little town), as we Schwabs say, with romantic streets beautifully situated in the wine-growing hills along the Neckar river.

To round out the day, I recommend a stop in the beergarden "7 Eichen" (7 oaks) in Affalterbach near Marbach, where there is often live music. In any case you should enjoy the lavish scenery with our wonderful wine, and perhaps an authentic Schwabish dish, for example "geschmälzte Maultaschen mit Kartoffelsalat", a sort of Schwabish ravioli with potato salad.
